Memphis Garden Club Water Garden
When the Goldsmith Civic Garden Center was constructed in 1966, Memphis Garden Club enhanced the building with this serene Water Garden. Large containers with seasonally appropriate designs are visible in here in addition to the overall theme which is inspired by dry Japanese rock gardens called karesansui. This area bakes in the hot sun and traps heat all year long, so a dry garden surrounding the water garden element is necessary!
While not accessible to foot traffic, this garden provides a beautiful backdrop for the Water Garden Room, art exhibits in the west hall of the Visitors Center Gallery, and Fratelli's Cafe in the Visitors Center. In Spring duck parents can be seen raising ducklings in here!
