MBG Staff-Keeping it Green at Home

I have two sons, Mason, age 10, and Hayden, age 7. They have to take a snack every day so we bought a reusable snack bag that they take every day rather than using a plastic bag. We have used a sandwich box and re-usable small containers in the boys' lunches for years to reduce the amount of trash in their lunch boxes.

As Director of Education at the Garden AND mother of four, I am very aware of the stats on health benefits and ways to reduce your carbon footprint through outdoor activities. My girls are involved with outdoor activities, which helps keep them off the video games and t.v. Board games are a good rainy-day alternative. If you have the opportunity to ride your bike rather than drive, that is a benefit for your health and for the environment. And some of our favorite family activities for spring happen at the Garden. We’re looking forward to Daffodil Dash and Egg Hunt, as well as the spring blooms.
