Growers' Choice? What's new and different about our Fall Plant Sale...

For the past few years, our Fall Plant Sale has been a major 2-day production, featuring landscape vignettes, educational talks, lawn and garden vendors, and more. It was an impressive event, but, quite frankly, the logistics were massive, the impact to the grounds was noticeable, and everyone was wiped out at the end of the show. So, we asked some of our best regular customers for their input, and the answer was clear:
WE JUST WANT TO BUY PLANTS!

Folks want to buy plants that are hardy; plants that grow well in our local climate and soil. They want to buy plants that are healthier and of a greater variety than they may find elsewhere. They want to shop local. And they want more knowledgeable help than they receive in the garden section at a big box store.

Welp, guess what folks? We have got you covered! This year, our Fall Plant Sale will be a one-day-only event. We are offering hundreds (actually more like thousands) of plants, shrubs, and trees that we've propagated in our own nursery and greenhouse for use around the Garden's 96 acres of beds and displays. Our horticulture staff have selected these plants (Growers' Choice!) because they grow well in the Mid-South...meaning that you'll have an easier time keeping them healthy in your own landscape. Manny and our volunteer greenhouse team have nursed them from tiny seedlings or cuttings and can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about raising them to maturity. Our entire team of horticulturists, plus a bevy of hand-picked volunteers, will be here throughout sale day to help you identify the types of plants you need for your location and conditions, to help you gather items, and to offer advice on maintaining your plants.

Oh, and because we realize that a plant sale just wouldn't be complete without a POP of fall color, we will bring in a selection of your favorite pansies and seasonal annuals from vouch-worthy local nurseries. They will be of fine quality and somewhat limited quantity, so shop early if you want first pick!

We won't pretend that we're disappointed to pare the sale down to one day. In fact, our hard-working staff and volunteers will welcome a day to rest before diving back into another work week. And we suspect that it will turn out nicely for our customers as well...you shop for plants on Saturday, dig your holes and water them in on Sunday, and you'll have a brand new landscape (with gardener-selfies to show off at work) by Monday.

So, there's the scoop. Our Fall Plant Sale happens one day only, Saturday, October 1st, 9 am-5 pm. The plants will be top quality, some of very limited quantity, and the help will be knowledgeable and friendly.

Oh yeah, and one more thing: we rely on dollars raised at our plant sales to continue growing the Garden for your enjoyment. This is a fundraising event, so your purchases make a difference. Buy generously! Plant your new beauties at home and let them remind you that you've supported the Garden every time you walk out your front door. We promise it will make you smile.
