Farmer's Market Season Opening-April 27th!

This year, we'll be changing things up a bit, so come on out and see what's new!

For one, our hours have changed. We've received so many requests over the past few years, that we're changing the market times to 1-5 p.m. That means that you can take a late-ish lunch and swing by for fresh produce and prepared foods.

Secondly, we will be setting up in the parking lot rather than the Pine Grove. Our horticulture experts say that we need to give the trees a break, (Driving and parking on the root system is bad for their health...the trees and the horticulturists too, I suspect.) and the parking lot has been a popular configuration for many of our vendors and customers in the past. When you pull into our main driveway, the market will be to your right. Park anywhere in the lot, and you'll have easy access to the vendors from either direction. Enjoy our Desert Garden in the bed adjacent to the market, while you're there.

Finally, we are welcoming a number of new vendors to the market, with a variety of produce, goods, and artisan items. Your old favorites will be returning as well, with a new season of goodies for us to indulge our taste buds. Please come out and see what they have to offer.

As you may have noticed, the past 2 growing seasons have been a little slower than normal for our region. Due to consecutive, extra-cold winters, most growers had to wait to plant and/or lost crops due to late frost, excessive spring rains, or other conditions.

This year's weather has been different, so we are excited to see the bounty that each week brings. Remember, as the produce comes into season, the range of goods grows larger and larger, so you won't see tomatoes, squash, or other summer produce during the early spring or late fall seasons. However, our local growers are very creative...they plant unique items that you won't find at the grocery store, so that they have interesting early-season offerings.

Explore the options they offer, engage them in conversation, and find out how they prepare the items they grow. Try new recipes, and share them with us on our Facebook page, so we can all enjoy new seasonal tastes and textures. Then keep coming back to see what changes Mother Nature brings us, week after week. After all, that's what the farmers' market is all about! Well, that and baked goods..and the amazing selection of artisan toe-tapping tunes by our team of local musicians.

Who, by the way, join us weekly just to entertain you...and to be part of the scene. So stop by and give our pickers and singers a hug and a hello. They keep us dancing!
