Turn your herbs into incense!

Want to spice up your life and add a little fragrance to it at the same time while reducing your footprint?
Try making your own incense! Choose the herb or herbs you would like to dry such as red Cedar, lavender, rosemary, sage, or maybe even (if you grow it) a little bit of mugwort.
Cut your chosen herb, bundle the stems with cotton string, and hang out of the way until they are dry. Once they are ready: gather a heatproof container, a hotpad, a charcoal round and/or a lighter, and your herbs.
Place your heatproof container on top of your hotpad, set your charcoal inside the container, light the charcoal and wait until it smoulders, then sprinkle on your herb(s) of choice. That's all there is to it!
Experiment with a single herb, or mix and match for your signature scent. You can even make little bundles wrapped with cotton string for a more stick like presentation.
You would not need the charcoal for this, but would set it into your container, then light the end (be sure the entire bundle resides inside your container, and away from flammable objects!).
Breathe deep, and rest easy knowing the goodness is locally sourced and comprised of pure natural ingredients.
