October 3-31. Painted Odyssey: Works by NJ Woods. On display in theVisitors Center Gallery. “Painting, for me, continues tradition. My father was an artist, and the memory of his work inspires me to create today.Regionally, I am known for work that reflects the colorful and rich heritage of African American and southern cultures converged. However, by focusing more on color than subject, the viewer needn’t be southern or African American to appreciate or emotionally connect with my work. I often use yellow-green, one of my favorite colors. Like much of my artwork, I feel this energetic hue speaks to one’s inner child and represents new beginnings and vitality.”
