September 4 - October 30. Yin & Yang—Duality of Structure and Expression. Mary Anne McCraw & Howard Carman, Artists. On display in Fratelli’s Café, Monday – Saturday, 11 am – 2 pm. Howard Carman and Mary Anne McCraw explore the duality and interconnectivity of structure and expression in their watercolors and how each interconnects in the natural world. Howard Carman’s work on display reflects his love of landscapes and the occasional barn, plus two of Frank Lloyd Wright’s homes. As a retired structural engineer at The University of Tennessee, Howard is intrigued and amazed at Frank Lloyd Wright’s balance of the audacious use of the cantilever and the inclusion of nature into his designs. Mary Anne McCraw enjoys painting the different moods and mysteries of summer landscapes and winter’s crystalline textures and beautiful architectural lines. Her experience working in health care at Baptist Memorial Health Care and the study of the natural sciences has imbued her with a deep respect and fascination for the mysteries of life and nature.
